Plan check (or plan review) is the building department’s review of the permit application drawings to verify compliance with the Utah State Construction Code — IBC/IRC, IECC, NEC, IMC, and local amendments — before the permit is issued. Plan check can result in: approval (permit issued); conditional approval (permit issued with conditions); or corrections required (a correction notice identifying non-compliant elements requiring revised drawings before permit issuance). Receiving corrections is normal — it does not mean the project is in trouble. RainFire Builders prepares permit packages to each AHJ’s specific requirements to minimize correction cycles, responds promptly and completely to every correction, and advocates through the appropriate process when a correction reflects a code misinterpretation.
